My new design

Good Morning, Today I am very proud to share with you my newest design, this project is featured in this months Homespun magazine.
Let me introduce you to "Boy Toys" A  sweet hexagon baby quilt with a few little stitcheries. This was such a fun design to make. I love doing stitcheries and hexagons, its an easy portable project you can throw in your bag and work on any time you have a few spare moments.
 I hope you like it.
As a designer nothing makes me happier than seeing my designs on the pages of a magazine. Knowing many people will be looking at it and hopefully choosing fabrics from their stash to make their own version.
Something else I whipped up recently was this custom cushion for a man I work with, he wanted me to make a cushion for his daughter with her name on it, all the directions he gave me were bright colours, so this is what I came up with. I'm so happy how it turned out. I took it to work and gave it to my colleague and then the next day his very happy daughter came in to thank me. I do love making things for people to enjoy.

I'm spending the day with a few friends for a stitching session so I had better get organised, have a wonderful Sunday and thankyou for stopping by.

Peg Bag swap & Log cabins

Good Morning to you all on this wonderful long weekend, I love having an extra day off at home to potter around and do some sewing. After all the dreadful floods my town had this week its been good to see a sunny day. This morning is cold though, I think it was 0 when I got up and a really thick frost.

What do you think of my peg bag? Isn't it adorable, I received it in my online stitching group, every few months we do a swap and the theme for this one was to make a peg bag.
Thankyou Teresa, I do love it alot. And its already been put to use.
This is the peg basket I made, it has velcro handles so you can hang it on the clothes line. I enjoyed making it. My partner likes lavender and mauves and as its not a colour I sew with much. It was fun to do something a bit different.

Now these fabrics are my absolute favourite. Good old Kansas troubles. these fabrics scream Autumn/winter. When I first started quilting about 8 years ago these were my first fabrics I bought. Since then I have collected alot of Kansas troubles fabrics and made about 8 quilts. Now I'm using up most of smaller pieces and making some log cabin blocks.
I'm not too sure of my layout just yet as I'm making it up as I go but I really like this set of 4 blocks randomly placed together for a photo.  I'll just keep making blocks until I have enough to make a decent size quilt or I run out fabrics.

I hope you enjoy your long weekend and you find some sewing time.

Thankyou for visiting my blog. xx

A Rainy Sunday

Good Morning on this miserable wet day, its perfect for a sewing day so I'm  up early and at my machine while everyone in my house is still asleep.  It really is the best time of the day. During the week i have been making little projects to add to my etsy shop, I made this sweet drawstring bag. I'd love for you to take a look if you get time. The link is in my side bar at the top.
I also have been busy teaching classes at Patchworks plus, I designed and made this sewing machine cover for the class and now 9 other ladies have one just like it. We had a great couple of weeks together sewing and sharing stories. Thankyou Sarah for such an amazing opportunity.
This is a great project for scraps, I do have PDF patterns available for $12 if you are interested in making one yourself.  The pattern is very new so I'm still working on the front cover for  the pattern but I will email you coloured photos.
I am making a head start on a few birthday gifts and this pear project is such fun to sew. I'll share the finished project next week.
I have  my very first custom order for a cushion so I have been busily sewing this together, now to get started on the back,  I love how it has come together.
Some new fabrics arrived and I now I have these babies to play with, its the newest line from Sweetwater called Treehouse club.
I have started cutting into it already and am making a quilt. This photo doesn't really look much but up close the fabric is beautiful.
I tidied my sewing room this week and folded my quilts a bit differently so they don;'t get permanent creases. I added a few smaller ones to a basket just for a change. How do you store your quilts? I would love to hear your ideas.

Ok back to some sewing, have a wonderful day. I hope you find some sewing time. xx
