Autumn

Autumn is my favourite time of year, there is a nip in the air and its the time we think about getting our firewood in for those cold winter nights.
All week I have been thinking I really should take some photos of the beautiful trees in my my area and so this morning I did just that.

I drive through here every morning when I take my son to school, Its so pretty right now.
I took a few sewing projects with me for a little photo shoot, I love to do this.

They look so nice amongst the leaves.
This table runner blends right in with the Autumn leaves.

So that's how I spent my Sunday morning. Time for some sewing now.

Have a great day.

New Fabrics & A new project

I've been looking foreward to sharing my new fabric purchases with you, I bought these on our holiday and so of course they are just that little bit extra special.
I'm sure you can see a bit of a red, white & blue theme happening here. Isn't this red flag fabric awesome.
I also love fabric with writing on it,

The reason for all this fabric loveliness is for my new English paper piecing project called Smitten. Its only a small quilt, about lap size and you make all these shapes which then turn into bigger hexagons.

They are so much fun to make. I did these ones on the plane trip going over, it filled in some of the 14 hours of just sitting there. I did watch a few good movies to,
This is the back, all those papers tucked inside.
So far this is my favourite block, the flag is fussy cut from the red fabric pictured here. Its the perfect size. The only problem I find with fussy cutting is you tend to waste a bit of  fabric.
I am enjoying working on this project alot. Its very portable and easy to pick up when you have a  spare moment or two.

I'm heading off to a sewing day at my friends house, I have made savoury scones for lunch and they look delicious. Have a wonderful day.

Thankyou for stopping by.

Happy Times (lots of photos)

Good Morning, its been ages since I have blogged but that's because my family and I have been on vacation to the amazing USA.  We had the best time. My boys are getting older and we think this was our last holiday as a family, we are planning on going back next year but they probably won't want to come with us so this one was extra special.

We had a few days in Santa Monica, its a beautiful place, the beach is gorgeous and the pier is just awesome.  When we first arrived we had been up for over 30 hours, I was too excited to have a nap so was Jacob so we took off for a bit of look around while the others had a sleep. We wandered down to the pier and there was a school bus in the car park, so of course out come my camera. I love these buses.

We had a day at Univeral Studios, now that is one amazing place.  We had been there before but a few things had changed and it was so good to see. Paul & Nicky met with a transformer, that ride by the way is the best.
We had a day at San Diego Zoo, that was good to.
The majority of the time we spent at Anaheim, the home of Disneyland. That place really is the most magical place in the world.  We had a 3 day pass so we enjoyed that alot.
The roads are so busy, we didn't drive as both of us were too scared to, Paul said he might forget to drive on the wrong side of the road. Now that would be scarey.

Everyday at 4.30 Disneyland have a parade, its so fun to watch. Here are 2 princesses. The one in blue is Cinderella, not sure about the other one.

I collected a few Disney pins as souvenirs, This year Disneyland is 60 years old so of course there were lots and lots of souvenirs for that.

Now we are home and getting back to our regular routine, I go back to work tomorrow.

I have much more to share with you, I can't wait to tell you about my adventure to the quilt shop.

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by.
