Friday Night sewing results

I achieved quite alot last night for Friday Night Sew In, its a great motivator to know you are sewing with so many friends.
I got the binding made and machine sewn onto my new quilt, this quilt is massive and took almost an hour to  sew it all on, I have started sewing it down by hand on the other side so I'll do a bit more of that tonight. Hopefully a few nights of stitching  and it will be done.
My father in law is 70 soon so I have made him a mini tractor quilt, he collects old tractors so when I saw this pattern by Lori Holt i knew it would suit perfectly.
It took quite some time to actually sew it altogether, lots of little pieces. But now its done.
Last night I started doing a bit of quilting on it, finished it up today so now all that left is the binding and a label.
Holy Moley it was cold this morning, -3 when I  braved the elements and took these frosty photos.

Even the bird bath was frozen.
Thankyou to Wendy for hosting FNSI, if you would like to see what others got up in their sewing rooms click here to see the list.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Friendship

I Have had a lovely day with my good friend Sarah  at a patchwork friendship day. I went with Sarah  to help her with her stall for the day. It was set up beautifully with lots of goodies for sale.
 Love these lacy zips.
I bought the pattern to make this pretty folder, designed by the very talented Gail Pan
I also couldn't resist this pretty  charm pack. Not sure what I'll use it for but I'll think of something.
Sarah gave me my quilt back, all beautifully  quilted. The photo doesn't really do it justice, when I bind it I think I'll do a special post on this quilt. Its my favourite right now. I used all my best fabrics including a few liberty prints.
I did a little bit of sewing today, I'm making some hexagons out of the new Fig tree fabrics called Farm House. I love it.
Last night I finished Hubby's quilt. I am so happy with how it turned out, I put a photo on Instagram yesterday and had many requests for a pattern, so in the next few days I will write it up.
I can't wait to give this quilt to Paul. At first he will  say  " Just what we need.... another quilt" but I know he will love it . It has a special meaning for all of us.
These 5 stars represent the 5 of us, all excited heading off on our first overseas trip.  Our 2nd trip will be  next year.

Now this quilt is finished I'll be thinking what I can make next. I never run out of ideas.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thankyou for visiting my little blog. xx

Basket making

I think I might be a little bit addicted to making fabric baskets, these are so handy and easy to make. Great to use up scraps or that odd fat quarter you have left over from a project. I made this one for my friends birthday and filled it with goodies.
Then yesterday morning I made this scissor one. I love this print but never really had a plan for it so now its been put to good use.
The lining is so cute, that was another odd fat quarter I  found in the cupboard.
My lovely friend Cathy came over yesterday for a bit of  a sewing session so I made this smaller basket, this one is heading to USA.  I joined a swap on Instagram and my partner likes reproductions so I plan to fill this with  goodies for her.
I shared these baskets a little while ago but thought I'd show them again and add them to this special Basket post. They are now in my bathroom and filled with sponges and soaps. I do love the yellow and grey print, it almost matches the bathroom tiles in the shower.
And lastly I made a bigger basket, well this is more like a bucket. It holds all my liberty fabrics.
I've probably made enough baskets for now, time to move onto something else don't you think.

I am almost finished my newest design for a magazine but I can't share it yet, I have sewing like crazy to get these done for my deadline so it was nice to just take a break and do some fun easy sewing.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and you found some sewing time.

Take care.
