Friday Night sewing results

Hi everyone. I hope you have all had a good week, Mine has been busy with work, sewing and being a mum. My car needs a taxi sign on it because gosh I do some driving around. I thought once the boys got older I would get more "me" time but it hasn't happened yet.  Anyway last night in with lots of other lovely ladies for Friday Night sewing, Hubby was on night shift so I couldn't use my sewing machine while he was trying to sleep so I did a bit of hand sewing on this quilt that has been put to one side for far too long. I appliqued 4 circles onto the quilt and I love it.
This pattern is called In Full bloom by Lynette Anderson. I only have 3 stitcheries to go  so now I really want to get this baby finished.
You can probably see some quilting already on the quilt, what I did was get the quilt beforehand as I didn't want quilting over the stitcheries, its really easy to needleturn them on. Just make sure you only sew through the top layer of fabric. I like the effect alot.

I have started a new quilt for myself, Its a Union Jack quilt in all fig tree fabrics. Next to Bonnie and Camille and tilda,  Fig tree is up there with my most favourite fabrics. I just love how soft and pretty they are and all ranges go together so well. I have a bundle of Aloha girl on order so I can't wait to see that.

I have joined a small swap on Instagram and this is what I made my partner, they are lavender filled bags, I thought they turned out really nice.  What do you think?
I also made a liberty pouch and accessories for another Instagram swap I joined a little while ago and I couldn't remember if I shared what I made.
These goodies are now living in USA,

Tomorrow I have so much sewing planned, I have a few new designs that I must make a start on as I have already been commissioned for those. Exciting stuff for Lizzie the Quilter.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Monday Already

The weekends go so fast don't they. Saturday I spent the day at Patchworks Plus teaching a beginners class, We had a great time. The ladies are doing so well and we are up to machine quilting their first quilt. There were very happy faces as they are getting nearer to finishing.
I popped into KMart over the weekend and found this very nice mini box of drawers, perfect to sit on my desk in my sewing room. You never know what you find when you're not really looking.
I also did some fabric shopping at Sarah's and bought these beautiful fabrics by Black bird designs, they are so pretty and perfect for some Autumn sewing. Now i just need to decide  what to make.
Yesterday I worked on a few things, including getting the binding ready  for my tilda cup quilt. Now, my close friends know I'm not fond of binding but now I have it sewn on and ready to sew down when the mood strikes.
I also did a little bit more on my fig tree quilt, My plan is to get this finished over my easter break.
I made a few more Disappearing 4 patch blocks, these will be for another class I'm going to teach a bit later on.
I thought I would share with you the gifts I made for my lovely friend Christine from Patchwork all sorts, I loved making this mini dresden pin cushion.
Christine and I both adore tilda fabrics so we agreed to make our gifts from Tilda, this teal fabric  is so pretty and it was lovely to sew with.  Here is a little table mat.
And some pretty lavender bags with some Theodora Cleave buttons on the front.

Well I had better get on with some sewing before its time to head off to work, Have a great Monday and a wonderful week ahead. Hope you find some sewing time.

Long Weekend Sewing

I love a long weekend, don't you? Plenty of time to catch up on the things we love most but don't often have enough time, I have had a great weekend. Saturday saw me heading off to George Town to teach a beginners class at Patchworks plus, it was a great day. Lovely ladies in my  class who were thrilled to be making their very first quilt.  I love seeing their faces when their seams are perfect and they are so happy, they can't believe they "did" that.  Sarah had a few of my quilts in her cupboards that she had quilted for me, here are 2 of them. Aren't  they beautiful. The pattern is from Lor Holt's quilty fun book. These cups are so much fun to make. I made one  in fig tree fabrics....
And one in Tilda. Its so pretty and perfect to hang in my kitchen.

I also built a house over the weekend, yep. I'm super woman. What do you think? Its a pattern by fig tree from Joanna's book With Fabric and thread. I have admired this quilt for some time and finally got around to starting it. I am looking foreward to working on it  some more today.

We only have a few summer flowers left in the garden now, these are called Asters and its my first year growing then, they are so pretty. I'll definately be planting these again next season.

Remember a couple of weeks ago I was making some jam jar covers with these old cross stitch projects I found in the cupboard,

Well I have made 2 and they turned out so pretty. Just a simple ruffled edge around the cross stitch piece and tied with some ribbon.
I have the nicest looking pantry.

So thats my weekend, so glad I  have today to tidy up my sewing room and  work on some stitching. Very relaxing indeed.
Enjoy your day and I hope you find some sewing time.

Tilda & Greengate

During the week I received some wonderful mail. I got a very special package all the way from England. My dear friend Christine from patchwork all sorts  and I did a little Tilda swap with each other.
Christine made me the most beautiful Table runner in my favourite tilda fabrics. Look at the pretty embroidery in the middle,
You will also notice my gorgeous new Greengate latte cups that also arrived in the post on Friday. I couldn't wait to tear into the box and see these precious cups that I love so much.
They match my new tilda runner perfectly.
Christine also made me the cutest tissue cover, its so adorable and  the tiny piece of lace with the button makes it so delicate and pretty.

I also received this lovely tea pot cosy, it looks perfect  in my kitchen.

Thankyou so much Christine, you made my day with your beautiful gifts. I will treasure them always.
A few weeks back I bought some new tilda fabrics, I didn't really have a plan for them so they have sat on my desk being admired everyday then at last I decided to make some hexagon flowers with a few of the smaller prints so today I'm going to cut those out. Its the perfect on the go project and will be good to work on at night when I relax and watch a bit of tele.

Thought I  may as well share all my Greengate collection with you all.  It lives in the kitchen all bunched together looking beautiful.

I really don't like this part of my kitchen with all the cupboards, they have been there since the house was built in 1958. Everyone that comes to my house says how much they love it and its very retro. I guess first impressions are great but when you have to live with it you get bored with it all. It is great storage though. We had plans to get a new kitchen this year but I want to go back to the USA for a holiday so the kitchen can wait another few years.

Ok time to cut into that pretty tilda fabric, have a great Sunday and I hope you find some  sewing time.

The big 5 0
