A few things

Towards the end of Autumn I was driving through the park to take our youngest son  to school and the autumn leaves were all over the ground under this huge tree, they were so lovely so I thought I would take a few quilts down for a photo shoot.
They looked so good amongst the leaves.
I called this one my camouflage quilt. Its a Leanne Beasley design I did a few years ago using my favourite autumn tones. It blends in beautifully with the leaves.
Yesterday I spent the day with my good friend Marina,  she has just come back from an amazing holiday in America and she bought me home a few goodies.
Last week I bought myself a present from work, a gorgeous layer cake by my favourite fabric designers Bonnie and Camille. I have big plans for this fabric.
Today I worked on this block, also for work. Its the last block  and its almost finished. I'm looking foreward to sewing the quilt together and having it all finished.

I hope you found some sewing time today,

Happy mail

The  postie has been to my house 3 times this week, My lovely mother in law has done it again and sent me   some beautiful crocheted flowers , I love them all  and I thought they would be nice to use as embellishments on gifts and quilting projects.
 Such pretty colours, thankyou Dawn.
My partner Barb in our Lets celebrate swap  sent me a lovely mug rug and some yummy biscuits that she baked herself, they are delicious. thankyou Barb.
And finally my new BOM from the fat quarter shop arrived today, I love fig tree fabrics and this range Avalon is my favourite so far, I can't wait to get started with the first block.

I hope you  are finding some sewing time on these very cold days.

Birthday quilts

Now I have my very own sewing room I find I am much more productive, even more so now I  have good heating in there, I can sew til all hours. My mother in law had her birthday this month and as she is always doing special things  for me I thought I would surprise her with a quilt. I would have loved to see her  face when she opened it but as they live in Victoria I had to post it.
She does love it and I'm so pleased. I used the tumbler block and this quilt turned out so pretty.
My sister also had her 40th Birthday this month so I wanted to make her a quilt to, Kim isn't really into "homemade stuff" as she calls it but she said she loves her quilt, she sent me photos of it all set up on her spare bed. Kim lives in Cairns so they don't really need quilts but I wanted to give her something special just from me.
When I wasn't quilting I was stitching this project by Helen Stubbings as a sample for work, It was a nice project to do.
Then I wanted to make something for me so I started this beautiful butterfly pattern from Fig tree quilts and I'm going to make a table runner.

I love it.

I hope you are sewing lots of things to,  Have a wonderful week.

My farmers wife quilt and a new bag.

I finally got my borders on my farmers wife quilt. I love the white border. I think I'll do a coloured binding, maybe scrappy what do you think? I do like scrappy bindings but maybe this quilt just needs the one fabric  as binding.
So many pretty blocks and all my favourite fabrics in the one quilt.

My on line stitching group had a travel swap and we had to make our partners something they could take with them when they travel. I made Fiona a stitching wallet, Hopefully it will fit into her bag when she goes away. I also included a stitching project for her.
My friend Vicki made for me and she gave me a beautiful travel shoulder bag with lots of compartments and a beautiful travel wallet.
I love my bag, thankyou Vicki.

Its been a busy day so I'll say goodnight, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and you find some sewing time.

Friday night sewing results are in .....

Last nights plan of attack was to get my Farmers Wife blocks together,
Well after a marathon sewing night and a little bit of unpicking....
I'm happy to say all blocks are now together and my quilt is almost complete.
I love it so much, it has all my favourite fabrics and they all just go together so well.

Today I'm playing around with borders, I was going to do  a scrappy border but I think just plain white will frame it nicely.

I can't wait to see what everyone else got up to last night, if you want to see to go to Cheryll's blog and check out the list.

Have a great afternoon.

A cherry shed day

Yesterday my friends and I had a sewing day at the Cherry Shed, we have been there several times before and its such a fun day.  We sewed, talked, laughed and ate. Does it get it better than that??? I don't think so.
Here is Vicki and Lib, posing for a photo,  these 2 are characters. Lib is just lovely and so is her friend Faye.
 Everyone is busy stitching.
We presented Christine with a quilt made by our friends in stitching group and Christine's other group called The Material girls, it was quite an emotional moment  but Christine was thrilled with her quilt. We knew she would be.
The food here is delightful, look at those desserts, I had Cherry Pie, pictured below, it was so yummy.

We headed to the nearest patchwork shop and I  found a few things I  just had to have. Including this layer cake by Bonnie and Camillle, my favourite  fabric designers,
I found the new tilda book that is so beautiful.
I can't wait to make this gorgeous girl, I also bought a few new tilda fabrics, just because I loved them,
After all that talking and eating I did manage to do some stitching.

Thankyou girls for a wonderful day I can't wait for the next one.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday, I'm off to my sewing room, I have some serious sewing to do today.
