Swap gifts

Now my wonderful friend Anthea has her gifts from me I can share what I made her. We  both love Nat Bird designs so we decided to make each other something designed by Nat. I made this cute little cushion, it was so much fun to make. Anthea is a girl after my own heart and loves Fig tree fabrics so I dug into my stash and found all my pretty fabrics.

As easter was approaching we also made each other an easter surprise. I made this cute stitching bag. The bunny on the front is designed by Bronwyn Hayes. Its an old pattern but still lovely. Thankyou for swapping with my Anthea.
I had big plans for easter sewing but a horrid cold has knocked me for 6  so I have not done much at all. Yesterday I sat on the couch with a quilt and  some stitching, between a few coughing fits and the odd nana nap I got this project all stitched.
And last night I stitched a little on my new  tilda project. I love working on this, its just so pretty.  I may find some energy today to do a bit more.

I hope everyone is having a lovely easter.

Today....

I got up at 6.30 to go for a walk but it was raining (yippeeeeee) so I headed to my  sewing room as everyone was still asleep. I started to do some ironing  and kept looking at my horrible ironing board  cover, it has burn marks and a big rip so I decided to make a new one. I was so pleased how it turned out.
 What do you think?
After that I made a cute little pin cushion out of tilda fabric, it turned out so cute,
Then I made 11 apple blocks  to go with my  star and leaf blocks, more on that later.
I made a granny smith apple block.
I even got a bit peckish and had to try one, they are yummy.
After lunch it was time for lunch box baking , so I made muesli bars.....
 Orange and raisin muffins....
and choc chip muffins, you can be sure these will be the first to go.

Tonight I'm settling in on the couch with my stitching and Downton Abbey,

What did you get up to today?

Friday night sewing results plus more

Last night I was very productive with my sewing, I made 16 little star blocks .....
and 16 leaf blocks, they are for a special project I have been working on for a few weeks now. I will show you more very soon.
This gorgeous bag I made during the week using the new tilda fabric we got at work,  I love it.
I took this photo on Thursday morning just before a big storm hit  and we had torrential rain and high winds for most of the day. It was kind of like the calm before the storm.

I have got more sewing plans for tonight while the boys settle in for a footy session.
I hope you have a good weekend.

Friday night sew in and some new goodies

When I went to Hobart for our sewing day a couple of weeks ago with Lynette Anderson and Helen Stubbings  both designers had a little shop so I came home with a few new goodies.  I bought these wooden cotton holders, they are so sweet.
I also bought this little case, I had the book already and all the instructions are in it to make a cover.
I started making the hexagons for the back,
I also bought this cute sewing pattern, I thought it would look quite nice in my sewing room somewhere.

Tonight I'm joining in Friday night sew in, go here if you would like to join in. Have a great  night.

Birthday gifts

March has seen me really busy sewing for swaps and birthday gifts, here are gifts I made for our on line stitching birthday swap. My partner was Teresa and she likes pink and pretty colours, our challenge was to take a friendship saying and turn it onto a project, I came up with a dresden pate wall hanging and stitched the saying it the middle. I think it turned out OK
I also made 2 cute little pin cushions and a pieced mug rug.
I really enjoyed making some little things for a change. Glad you liked them Teresa.
While I was in the garden taking photos of these projects there were bumble bees every where so I got a great shot of one going from flower to flower.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Hope you find some sewing time.

Easter swap, farmers wife quilt and new tilda fabric

My lovely friend Anthea from Hibiscus stitches and I decided to do a little easter swap with each other. Here are the beautiful gifts Anthea kindly send me. A gorgeous wall hanging complete with hanger. We both love Nat Bird designs so we decided to make each other a Birdhouse design.
All these goodies were in a gorgeous little easter bag, there is ribbons and bunny candles all so cute
and this gorgeous little lay bird full of choccies. Thankyou so much Anthea. I will share the gifts I made as soon as the postman delivers them to Anthea.
I have started putting my farmers wife blocks together, this takes some time but I only have 3 rows to go.

There was much excitement at work on Thursday when   we got 2 boxes full of new tilda fabrics. They are so soft and pretty. I bought 4 pieces but I'm sure I will buy the others as they are just so lovely. There is talk of a tilda tea party at work so that will be lots of fun.
Right, I must do some house work before I  head to my sewing room to put the final touches on a few more easter swaps. Oh I love sewing..... but I guess you already knew that.
Have a wonderful day.

Stitching day part 2

Today I would like you share with you part 2 of my sewing day with Helen and Lynette. These beautiful projects belong to Helen and they are so pretty. I love the bag above, the hexagons are sweet but I like it so much probably because its made from Tilda fabrics.
This hexie purse is just so cute.
All of Helens goodies on her trade table. So much eye candy, it was wonderful.
These were our projects for the day, Helen designed a pretty needle case  combined with stitchery and hexagons. We started that on the day, Helen had the design already printed on the fabric so it was easy to get started.

This is Lynette's design, a beautiful wall hanging  all about Spring . I can't wait to start this one.
It even came with the button.  I love this project.

I have so much more to show you including my purchases and some stitching so I'm going to have to do a part 3 post. Hope you don't get too bored.

Its a long weekend here in Tassie, so today I'm doing some easter sewing for my swaps and later on I just might have to start Lynette's project we got on Saturday.
Enjoy your day.

A birthday and a stitching day

Last Thursday my little boy turned 13. Here  he is all grown up cutting the birthday cake.
Now we have 3 teenage boys, Where do the years go?. I am lucky to have such good boys, they get on well with each other most of the time.
Yesterday my best friend Cathy and I headed off to Hobart for a stitching day with Helen Stubbings and Lynette Anderson, we had a ball. Lynette is just the nicest person, she sat at our table and chatted away and showed us a few new techniques using the glue pen for needleturn applique.
Helen hosted a wonderful day, she is lovely to.
Some of Lynettes projects, they are beautiful.
 I love this cushion.
And this quilt is just delightful.

Today is hot again so we are heading off to the beach, I will share more photos with you later, I have to show you the projects we got and my purchases. I took lots of photos.

Have a great day and I hope you find some sewing time.  I'm taking my stitching to the beach.
