Tilda swap

A little while ago I did a tilda swap with a new blogger friend Nancy. Nancy left a comment on one of tilda posts and we discovered we both loved tilda products so a swap was in order. I was very lucky to receive this beautiful needlecase full of goodies.
So beautifully made and so cute.

Thankyou Nancy, I love my tilda gift.
I made Nancy a little bag and she tells me it fits her ipad so she can use it for whatever she likes.
It was a great project to make and tilda fabric is so pretty. It can make any project look extra special.
Just outside our back door we have a climbing rose and in the middle is this bundle of joy, 4 baby black birds. Only born 2 days ago. They were sound asleep and when my camera went in the bush and gently shook the nest the babies sat up and their beaks were wide open, I guess they thought I was mama bringing them food.  Dear little things.
I picked a fresh bunch of roses today and they are so pretty, the pink rose is Jane McGrath. Its gorgeous and my favourite.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I have a few finishing touches to add to some christmas gifts. I hope you find some sewing time.

Red, white and Blue.

Remember when I started this quilt, it was quite a few months ago. Well its now finished.

Its already been put to good use by number 3 son, he wants this quilt for himself. I love it when my boys show an interest in my quilting.
I was so happy with how it turned out. The border is my favourite print. Its a Minnick and Simpson  fabric.
I love this photo, the quilt looks like a big wall of tiles.
Such a fun quilt to put together and watch the stars form as you make more rows.

My wonderful on line stitching group had a red and white swap, this is the beautiful gift I received from De. the bag is so sweet and some red and white ribbons to go with it, thankyou De.
I made for Sarah, she received these cards with fabric buntings, sorry the photo is blurry, its the only one I took,
I also made Sarah a fabric  basket, I thought it turned out rather well.

I have had  the best weekend, my husband took our boys camping for the weekend so I have been home alone. I got lots of sewing done and watched a few movies. I've had a lovely time., They will be home this afternoon with some fish hopefully and no doubt piles of washing.

Have a great day.

Saturday sewing

Yesterday I started working on a few christmas gifts. I had such a good day in my sewing room, I got all these needle cases finished. They were so much fun to make. I used the Helen Stubbings fabric panel from her range Life is beautiful.

I also made some mug rugs, these are being sent to my international friends.
The stitcheries  are from Natalie Bird's book Sweet Sentiments.
I added a little tag with my name on it just to make them a bit more special.
They turned out so well. I was really pleased.  The fabrics are very pretty.
Last weekend at work I also quilted a new finish. This is made from a Bliss jelly roll.
The colours are perfect for Spring and even Summer. Nice and cheery.
Its great when you reach this stage as the quilting is nearly to the end. Just need to bind it. I will show you more photos next time.
Just had to share a beautiful rose picked this morning from my garden.

Have a great day and I hope you find some sewing time.

My first piece of Greengate

On Monday it was our 18th Wedding anniversary and my husband bought me my first piece of Greengate china. I have admired these pieces for ages  and I first saw them on this blog in the UK and thought how I would love pieces like that. Well after doing a bit of search I found a shop in Victoria who stocks Greengate china so I was thrilled to bits.  Of course they sell quite a bit so no doubt I'll be shopping there again. I love all their pieces.
I just had to share some beautiful roses from our garden, they smell divine and are so pretty.
I have them in my sewing room so I can admire them every time I come in here which believe me is alot. lol

A bit of everything.

I have had a busy week and its so nice having a long weekend here in Tassie. I have been doing lots of sewing, some for me and some for secret santa swaps. I love this time of year when I start making Christmas things.
I made my pen friend Stephany a tilda mug rug, we did a swap and it was so much fun. I haven't taken a photo of the one Steph sent me yet but I will do that soon.
I have made lots more Union Jack blocks, actually I made 16 in one week. Its funny to think that 2 weeks ago I only had 4 union Jacks blocks and now I have 20. This quilt is for number two son Jacob and he keeps checking on the progress of the quilt. I think he is looking foreward to getting a new quilt. lol

I love this 2 tone blue block, its just a little bit different.
I have finished 2 more blocks of Sweet Heart houses block of the month. This is a lovely project, a bit of needle turn applique and blanket stitch. This quilt is a sample for  work.
 Such a pretty little bird.

Fern hill block of the month is almost finished to, just next month to go.  This is another sample I am doing for work. Customers like to see what we are working on.
Owls are so popular these days, they are very cute don't you think.
And a cute little mouse button, the only kind of mice I like.

Thats my show and tell for the week, tomorrow I plan to enjoy a day with my family. I hope you have a great day.

The big 5 0

Well its been a very fun week for me. Last Saturday I turned 50. It was a fun day of celebrations followed by a wonderful dinner with 30 ...
